Date Cards
If I am getting married over Labor Day weekend in Sept, 09 is now a good time to send save the date cards?
Just wondering how far in advance I should send them. Also, for out of town guests do I send the group rate hotel info with the save the date cards? Or with the invitations?
They are usually sent about 8 months before the date, so that they aren't too far in advanced and get lost/forgotten when they arrive. I would advice waiting until after Christmas to send them. People will have so much stuff coming in the mail in the next month and a half, and be so busy with Christmas. You don't want it to arrive, get thrown into some pile and forgotten.
Send them in January or February and then they will get people's full attention.
You don't need to send the hotel information that far in advanced, but you should block rooms at least 6 months ahead because it's a popular weekend. Then you can post the information on your wedding website or just spread that by word of mouth if you want. Save the dates are a bit informal, it's more so people can pencil the date into their calendars, not necessarily start booking the travel arrangements.
